Good swimming not only requires a swimmer to have good speed but also to be able to swim long distances. Therefore, if your baby can only swim short distances, she should consider admitting him to a good swimming school. Most of these schools would teach your child to increase her stamina through meticulous training regimens. These classes have your baby gradually and steadily increase her speed.
The first step will be to record your baby’s time. The time would reflect how long and how far your baby can swim in one stretch. After finding out her son’s normal swimming distance, the coach would ask him to swim another 50 meters. However, it is important that your baby does not swim the extra distance at the same fast pace as the rest of the distance because this can make your baby out of breath and even cramp up during your swimming lesson. Most swim schools have professional coaches, so there is no need to worry about your child’s safety in the water.
The next step is to cover the additional distance at a normal pace once your child has mastered it at a slower pace. Once your baby can comfortably swim the full distance at normal speed, baby swim lessons will teach them to master an additional 50 meters. The process will continue until your child learns to comfortably swim a distance of 500 meters. The idea is to gradually get your baby’s body used to more bodily activity.
However, this not all. It is not enough to swim long distances, because you also have to learn the correct technique to increase efficiency. And once again you can count on baby swim classes to teach your child the secret to optimizing their swimming efficiency. It is very difficult to maintain a high speed during the process of swimming long distances, and therefore your baby needs to divide the process into power phases.
The first 100 meters should be a slow swim as the body needs a warm up session before taking on a high effort activity. The next 100 meters should be focused on increasing speed. And the next 100 meters must use the speed collected by the body, which means that in this phase your baby must swim faster. The rest of the distance should be focused on gradually cooling down the body during the swimming lesson. Therefore, the next 100 meters should be a medium pace swim and the last phase should be a slow pace (similar to the start phase).
