A bold statement, but that’s how much I love this exercise. Partly because I “made it up”, but mostly because it works! I call it the “medicine ball ab shooter” since it’s performed with a medicine ball (MB) and well…”blows up your abs.” This is the best exercise for the abs because it works the entire region (except for the obliques). Anyway, rather than talk about how good it is, I’ll tell you exactly how to do it. By the way, you will need a training partner for this.
The Best Exercise for Abs – Tech Tips!
First things first, you want to select a medicine ball and lie on your back in a normal sitting position. Raise the “MB” above your head and when ready, while keeping your arms extended, sit upright and let it roll from your fingertips into your partner’s hands (who will be standing by your feet).
Pause briefly while you wait for your training partner to return the medicine ball to your hands. Remember, keep those arms outstretched! Lower your body back to the starting position at a controlled pace. At this point, lift your legs up, keeping them straight, and bring your feet up toward the ceiling as you perform a “pelvic tilt.”
Lower them back down at a controlled speed and as soon as your heels hit the ground, crunch up and toss the “MB” to your training partner. You will want to repeat this sequence for as many reps as you can.
