When my eldest daughter was born, it took me a while for the extra pounds to start to come off. She is already three months old when I started noticing that she was losing the extra weight I gained while pregnant. I didn’t make any drastic changes to my diet, because I breastfed. I lost my extra thirty pounds of weight when she was already five months old.
My procedure was simple and only included an adjustment in diet, not abrupt additional activity. Ideally, I should accompany my diet with exercise, but my daughter was born in early February and at that time my possibilities to exercise were very limited. But they say that each and every nursing session is already the equivalent of running almost a mile.
Every morning I ate oatmeal for breakfast. It started with just eating oatmeal, but then I don’t really like the texture of it so much, so I have a cereal and oatmeal alternative every other day. And I put brown sugar in my oatmeal, but I didn’t put sugar or sweetener in my cereal. I didn’t have any snacks in the morning, and I drank a lot of water, that’s like 3/4 gallon a day.
Rice alone became my power and staple food which I truly believe helped me lose so much weight. Every day for lunch I ate rice mixed with vegetables. I’ll cook the rice for about 10 minutes, drain the water and add more water the next, boil it for another twenty minutes and then drain it again and add more water the third time and boil it one more time. You may be wondering why I continually change the rice water. It’s mainly because I wanted to get rid of all the bitterness in the rice. I also added some chicken flavoring or cubes to the water with the last water change so it has a bit of a kick and I’m not tempted to add a bit of salt or butter. When my tastes softened on plain rice, I started adding vegetables. I would add sliced onions, carrots, celery, broccoli, peas, etc. to the water with the rice and at the same time I added the bouillon cubes and let it rest so that everything could cook together. It tasted so good and was perfectly healthy.
In the afternoons I really want sweets. I did not deny myself. After the kids have gone for their afternoon nap, I take my special “prize.” And then for dinner I ate whatever I made for my family. We are the typical family that loves carbohydrates, red meat, fish, etc. I made no changes to any of this.
Now how much weight did I destroy? I weighed 175 pounds after my oldest daughter was born and when she was two months old she weighed about 135 pounds. It’s been over a year and my diet still hasn’t changed and my weight is still down. This is how I lost 40 extra pounds in just six weeks.
