Is it time to start organizing your home? If so, the first thing to do is plan what storage items you’ll need to get the job done. We’re talking about storage items that can be used throughout your home. Let’s take a look at several storage items that will solve those clutter or disorganization problems.
Kitchen: Kitchen storage items include cutlery trays, drawer dividers, plastic-coated or chrome-plated wire pantry shelves, stackable plastic pantry drawers, baskets, boxes, and rolling bins if space allows . There are also the usual canisters and counter storage bins.
Pull-out shelves are very popular and make organizing a kitchen a lot easier. Everything is close at hand and items don’t get lost in the back. Open shelves are very attractive as long as you keep them tidy. You can store your dishes and glassware on the open shelves, which makes them practical and also adds character to the room. Not everything in a kitchen has to be behind closed doors!
Bathroom: Bathroom storage items are plentiful and include wall-mounted robe and towel hooks, shower caddies, two-tier towel racks, small plastic drawer units, plastic baskets with handles, tension-mounted vertical storage bar, boxes small decorative and the The list could go on and on!
A great organizational tool is a shoe bag hung on the back of your bathroom door to store items like soap, cotton balls, disposable razors, hair clips, and other small necessities. A Lazy Susan installed in the cabinet under the sink provides easy access to those hard-to-reach items. Plastic instead of wood works better in the bathroom. Shelves that go over the toilet are great organizers. They provide much-needed storage space and don’t take up extra floor space.
Bedroom: Bedrooms need plenty of shelves, drawers, and hanging space. Make sure your nightstands have at least one drawer for personal items so you have a place to keep those magazines and books that seem to be piling up. Every closet needs adequate space to hang clothes, but also shelves for folded clothes. Hooks are also useful, as are specialized hangers such as scarf hangers.
There are a variety of closet organization systems on the market. You can always choose components to assemble that fit your needs. One of my favorite closet organizers is a sloping shoe rack that attaches to the wall with a bracket. You’ll want several of these – each shelf holds three pairs of shoes.
