Created in 1952 in Grenoble, France by Rene Ramillon, the Moncler brand was adapted from a small town called Monastier de Clermont near Grenoble. Over the years, Moncler has grown significantly as a premium clothing brand that offers stylish and comfortable clothing for men and women.
In 1952, when the company started making jackets, they used the lining used in sleeping bags. The jackets were specially designed with the requirements of people on an expedition to the Alps in mind and therefore the jackets were designed to withstand extreme cold. Over the years, Moncler introduced several technological advances in its jacket linings. In 1968 Moncler was chosen to be the official clothing manufacturer and supplier for the French Olympic team. Later, in 1972, the French ski team requested a lightweight product that would offer them greater flexibility and maneuverability while skiing. This demand helped create the unique Moncler lightweight jackets that are in style even today.
The 1980s saw Moncler grow to unprecedented heights of fame and fortune as its products were highly regarded by customers. Advanced technology, superb design, excellent quality and unrivaled customer service have helped Moncler achieve an enviable position in today’s marketplace. Their jackets are designed to keep you comfortable and warm without having to carry the excessive weight of your jacket. The jackets are light but extremely warm and comfortable.
In the year 2003, Moncler was bought by Remo Ruffini, an Italian businessman and fashion aficionado. He took Moncler jacket design to a higher level and made the jackets look ultra modern and stylish. He also launched a premium women’s fashion collection in 2006 that was a huge success. Over the years, Moncler has become a favorite brand for young people around the world due to its bold designs and fresh, vibrant colors.
The “Gamme Rouge Line”, presented by Alessandra Facchinetti in 2006, was an additional asset for the Moncler Group. During her brief 2-year stint with Moncler, she gave the brand four successive clothing lines that were hugely successful. After she left Moncler in 2008, renowned designer Giambattista Valli replaced her at Moncler as design director. She took Moncler jackets to great heights by designing unique stylish jackets that are all the rage in the market. Her charming amalgamation of style, panache, sport and bright colors have helped to enhance Moncler’s position in today’s market.
