Jets Buzz Chargers Tower:
The San Diego Chargers suffered an upset loss at home to the New York Jets, who now head into the AFC Championship game after a narrow 17-14 win.
First-year coach Ryan and rookie quarterback Sanchez of the Jets outlasted the Chargers to gain a lead in a test game — now they face the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday.
San Diego had to have confidence in itself, entering the contest riding an eleven-game winning streak in the regular season to finish 13-3.
The New York Jets could simply covet the profile of the Chargers who just went 9-7 in the regular season. So it wasn’t a surprise to see the Jets down in these games at the halfway point. He would have had great odds for the Jets to win the contest at halfway.
It was only in the third quarter that New York even moved up the point standings courtesy of Jay Feely and his successful kick that seemed to buoy the rest of the Jets team. The Jets defended well, stifling Rivers and picking up a pair of interceptions in the process.
The Jets drove in the fourth quarter: Sánchez connected with Keller and then Greene carrying fifty-three yards for more scoring. He put the Jets up by ten points with less than half of the fourth quarter remaining.
The gap was soon down to no more than 3 points, but over time against the Chargers, you continually felt like the Jets would run out of praiseworthy winners in this game. New York kept the ball well to win it.
We still have the New York Jets as ‘dogs’ for the Superbowl, but they could be the surprise package they currently have around +700.
Minnesota went through Dallas:
Brett Favre and a brutal Minnesota Vikings defense pulverized the Dallas Cowboys in preparation for an NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
Tony Romo suffered at the hands of Minnesota’s marauding army, was sacked six times and that was just for starters, adding to that two turnovers and three fumbles turning the ball over to the other side each time.
Fear spread like a disease through the Cowboys’ ranks and they never really recovered their composition. Brett Favre, on the other hand, was a picture of almost perfect harmony, the ‘anti-Romo’, who led his team to an inevitable victory.
Favre gave Sidney Rice a lot of love, hitting him three times in the contest for touchdowns. later, not to have favorites, he passed Visanthe Shiancoe with the two-minute warning in the air.
Kicker, Longwell added two Vikings field goals to add to his total after kicking the extra touchdowns.
The Vikings now look to move south and meet the Saints for a chance to reach Super Bowl XLIV.
Currently, we believe the Vikings are the third favorite for the Super Bowl at +450. You can follow all the bets with us.
Crows left to pick up in scrap:
The Baltimore Ravens couldn’t find footing on the field in their loss to the Indianapolis Colts, falling 20-3 and managing just a solitary field goal for the scoring board. The Indianapolis Colts didn’t post an impressive tally either, but simply needed to stay ahead of the stifling Ravens.
Completing the regular season 14-2 (best in the NFL), Indianapolis shut down Flacco (QB) and the other elements of the Ravens’ feared running game. When all was said and done, it was easy for Peyton Manning.
After a dull first quarter, it was Manning who brought the contention to life in the second. He hit teammates Collie and Wayne, who both did well, and suddenly the Colts were up 17-3 heading into halfway.
The real story, though, was how Indianapolis mutated Baltimore’s offense with four turnovers, two of which were interceptions.
A Stover field goal in the fourth quarter raised the score ‘unnecessarily’ for the Colts: it looked like the Ravens had run out of ideas.
The Indianapolis Colts are currently the favorites to win the Super Bowl at even or +100. Maybe a little short but the market has spoken.
Cardinals Burn in Saints Blessing of Fire:
The New Orleans Saints defeated the Arizona Cardinals 45-14 for a spot in the NFC Conference Championship game.
The three-game losing streak at the end of the regular season seemed like ancient history, or maybe New Orleans just needed the two-week interlude before this game.
However, it was Arizona that started the brightest, as Tim Hightower ran three-quarters of the field leaving the Saints defense in his wake, for a touchdown just seconds into the game. But it was just a blip, as the Saints came back to score three touchdowns of their own in the same quarter, with Hamilton, Shockey and Bush the grateful beneficiaries.
The Cardinals responded satisfactorily with a touchdown from Beanie Wells, but the Saints followed through with touchdowns from Henderson and Colston.
Warner was replaced by Matt Leinart following injury and at halftime the Saints were up 35-14.
It was all New Orleans after the break with two terrific scores, first Hartley connecting on a 43-yard field goal before Bush doubled down with an eighty-yard punt return to condemn the Cardinals to certain defeat.
We make the New Orleans Saints the second favorite behind the Colts at around +200.
